5 months and Second Transfer...

Hey mom,

So this week I hit my 5 month mark which is nuts, time goes so fast looking back, but then looking forward it's a whole new story haha. Also, this Wednesday marks the end of my second transfer which is crazy. I can't believe I've already been in the country for 12 weeks. That went really quick. But this week was good, pretty empty, and kinda hard at some points, but overall good.

Tuesday: Today we took a second P day because Garcia got jipped out of one on Monday, So we were at the internet for a bit, then Scrimsher called me and asked me to cut his hair haha. So I gave him a cut and we spent the rest of the day with him. It was pretty fun, they have no work either so we just walked around the city, and it was a cool day and it was just perfect weather to walk around in. It was super fun. We tried calling the people that came to church on Sunday, but their phones never connected, and Batbeleg didnt answer either. That was kinda weird.

Wednesday: So I walked out of the shower (still freezing cold by the way) and I go to put on some pants and I hear that we got a text on our phone. Then I hear Garcia go "NOOOO" so I walk in to the kitchen and see him laying on the ground looking like he was shot, and he said "our only investigator (Batbeleg) is moving to a ward across the city, we officially have no work" So we both just laid on the ground and let our low moral take it's toll, then we got a call from other elders to hangout with them. So we went with them and just spent the day killing time. So it's hard now being back at square one with work. We have no investigators, no potential investigators. So it'll be interesting.

Thursday: Another pair of elders said they needed us to go to a lesson with them because they were teaching little girls. So we did. We walked way back into the ger districts and up to this little house and walked in and their aunt was there cooking us food (some meat and some bomb potatoes). We walked in and sat down and the younger girl (9) looked at me and said "do you know harry potter? you look like him, you have glasses" haha it was funny. But we taught them and it went really really well. After the lesson the girls wanted to teach us some Mongolian kid games, so we did that and they made no sense at all haha. Then we headed over to the English class at the church to try and find a new member to set up and appointment with, he doesn't come to church so we can't meet with him or get his phone number easily. But he never showed up to the English class which was rough. So after that we went back to the apartment and cooked some ramen and hungout the rest of the day.

Friday: Friday we really did nothing. Garcia had to do a baptismal interview for the sisters, so we went to the church for that. While we were there, I ran into Batsaagan, my MTC teacher, and we talked for a while. He got engaged the other day which is crazy lol. He is in Mongolia to get married and then he will travel back to the US for a temple sealing.  He was also going to donate his kidney to his brother while he was here but his brother is too sick to to do the operation.  His brother is dying and there's nothing that they can do about it.  It's sad.   Then we got a call from an elder saying he will pay for us to go to KFC so of course we did. He said his mom gave him money to take people out because he is leaving this friday. So we went with them and just killed more time.

Saturday: We had district meeting, it was Sister Dorjpagams last one, she leaves this Friday. So the other elders in our district made cinnamon rolls (not as good as yours)  and we had a fun time there. Then after district meeting we had nothing to do, so the other elders said we should go hike this mountain. The weather was nice, it was a bit overcast, but that made it not so hot. We started walking up through the ger districts to get to this mountain and it started to sprinkle a little bit, but it really was not bad at all. Then we got to the base of the mountain (more like a hill by USA standards) and it started to downpour so freaking hard, and the wind picked up, so it was pretty much a land hurricane. But we figured we were too deep in to turn back now. So we got to the top and hid behind this little cement wall to protect us from the rain. It was so wet. All of us were soaked to the bone, Our shirts were soaked through, our pants, our garments. It was nuts. Luckily the backpack I bought here is pretty waterproof. So that kept everything safe. But as we were contemplating how to get down the fastest, a Buddhist man walks up, also soaking wet, he's like 60 by the way, and sets these two stones in the middle of the cement thing on the top of the mountain (some buddhist thing they do, pretty neat) and he goes "are you christains?" so we go yeah. and he's like "mormons?" so we say yeah we are. then he says "you guys get a lot of wives huh? and you do some crazy stuff don't you?" haha so we had to explain to him that we dont have a ton of wives, but it was funny. Then he just gave us good luck and we headed down the mountain to stake conference. We walked into the church soaking wet, in our church clothes, and President Harper just laughed so much. But stake conference was good.

Sunday: So it was also stake conference today, but we had to broadcast it to the people in the virtual branch. So we got to go to the church, with super comfy seats, and the Doctor (in charge of the virtual branch) brought some super expensive german cereal. So we put on the stake conference for the people, and we could lounge back in the comfy seats and relax.  The main Stake Conference meets in a convention center that the church rents out. It was so nice. That really was all we did Sunday. Not much else to talk about.

Sorry this was a boring week haha, just not a lot going on over here. The monsoons are starting soon which is fun, the rain is nuts here, it's so crazy. Also the sun rises at 3:45 am and sets at 9 pm.  Gotta love that.

Love you!

also mom, i just need those g-2 0.5 pens, old spice deodorant, and some riesen chocolates. thanks for that!

Also tell the girls that yaks milk is not a thing.  It’s too dangerous to drink.  Only the really countryside people drink it.  But I have had hiram, it's warm milk (from a cow) and salt and water, it’s so gross. And I’ve also had this milk think called aaruul.  It’s milk they set in a tin and let curdle and then harden into a rock type thing. Then they eat it.  It’s so freaking gross.  Andrew Zimmer the Bizarre Foods guy wouldn’t even eat it . It’s so gross. Then they get that and mix it with water and boil it into a drink and it’s called arts.  I haven’t had that but it smells like baby throw up.  It’s rancid. Watch the Andrew Zimmer Mongolian food tour.  It shows a lot of what we eat here.

Seriously soaked
 Walking to the mountain

Waiting out the rain. We were already soaked, so we just went with it.
 Giving Scrimsher his haircut
 District meeting

This studio is right by the internet cafe we use.

Waiting out the rain

Monsoon season is upon us.

The kids are explaining the Mongolian games to us. I don't know what the sticks are for. They were telling Elder Stoney is going to get the smallest stick, they were making fun of him.

We taught our lesson at the house in front of us.

This is right outside our apartment. We walk by it a lot during the day.  Sometimes purposefully to catch the score. Just kidding.
